Get Ready to Download Rocket League for Free
In July, Psyonix had confirmed that its anticipated soccer game “Rocket League” would be free-to-play in September, after moving to the Epic Games Store. Yesterday, the studio revealed that a massive changeover would occur on 23rd September and will be applied by a massive cross-over update that goes live today. Currently, Rocket League is available to purchase on Steam for only $19.99. According to news, Rocket League is leaving Steam on 23rd September 2020 and will join Epic Store and download for free.
De-list from Steam on 23rd September
Moreover, the transition to free of cost model also marks the debut of the said game because of making its appearance on the Epic Games Store – a digital video game storefront launched by the parent company of Psyonix, Epic Games, which take on the studio last year. On 23rd September, the game will no longer available on Steam; however, the studio confirms that both versions of the game will still receive the full support for future features and updates, including the cross-platform play. After the said date, you aren’t able to get the game on Steam for free.
Already Purchased, no worries, something special awaits you
If you one those players who purchased the game without knowing it will be free to play, the studio will grant those players special legacy rewards. The special items include the following things, “Rocket League DLC” and more than 200 items you can use to customize your vehicles, such as Wheels, Decals, and Antennas. The developer confirms that registered players will have access to any platform progression linking system, which lets them link their existing platforms to Epic Games Account and continue your game where you left off.
Additionally, the studio has revealed earlier this month that the game won’t need a subscription of PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch to play online. However, the owners of Xbox One requires to continue with their Xbox Live Gold Membership, unfortunately.
