Mortal Kombat 11 will introduce Microtransaction system with no loot boxes

NetherRealm has confirmed Microtransaction

The developer NetherRealm has confirmed its stance on loots boxes and micro-transactions in the upcoming fighting game. As it was already revealed that the game doesn’t introduce any loot boxes. But like with other AAA (the most expansive) titles, MK11 will come with optional micro-transactions that you will use to purchase cosmetic items.

Shaun Himmerick Statement

Producer Shaun Himmerick has confirmed in the Latest Kombat Kast that MK11 will have Time Crystals as its in-game currency. However, players could spend these crystals to obtain different cosmetic items, including intros, skins, gear, etc. among other things. Additionally, Himmerick stated that there’s nothing pay-to-win with MK11’s micro-transactions. Regarding the gear, the producer revealed that NetherRealm learned from Injustice 2, which will allow you to purchase gear with stats that directly impacted gameplay and definitely it will not repeat with Mortal Kombat 11.

The gear you purchase using real money has no gameplay impact. And you need to obtain stat augments from gameplay in order to improve your gear-sets.

Time Crystals will be your In-game Currency

Moreover, Himmerick said that nothing needs Time Crystals (in-game currency) and NetherRealm will enable players’ allotments of Time Crystals as a means to offer players a look at some content they can purchase should they make sure to spend real currency.

So, Mortal Kombat 11 is set to be released for PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on 23 April 2019.
