In case you want to be the best swordfighter, then having a connection to nature is compulsory. Skill isn’t only enough with weapons driven by technique and strength, as you need a stable acuity that comes from observing massive mountains, trees, and of course, rivers. Ghost of Tsushima focuses on Feudal Japan to provide you with something unique and more complicated than your expectation. Beyond being a game centred on epic sword fights and an exciting journey of the protagonist to become the best ninja, the game takes you to a massive world full of rich forests and massive mountains.
Meet Jin Sakai
Jin Sakai is a samurai warrior, serving as a head of Sakai Clan. The story tells that the protagonist is a nephew of Shimura, and he has a lot of friends, as well as companions he encounters during the storyline, including the following:
- A Thief (Yuna)
- Yuna’s blacksmith Brother (Eddie Shin)
- Female Samurai (Lady Masako Adachi)
- And more.
The Mix of Stealth and Action-Adventure
Similar to Assassin’s Creed, the game gives you a perfect blend of Stealth gameplay with Action-Adventure genres. It provides you with a massively detailed world to explore, centred on Feudal Japan’s history. The vast open-ended world is so dangerous in itself, as the game doesn’t feature any system to guide you via that world. Different sections parts are there, and each one brings unique challenges for you to complete. Whether you love to navigate the world on foot or horseback, the game has both choices to select from, and your ultimate goal is to interact with Non-player Characters to complete side-quests.
Setting – Feudal Japan
As the game starts, you find yourself on Tsushima Island set in the late 13th century. While navigating the world, you find a massive range of regions and buildings, including:
- Villages
- Farms
- Mountains
- Different Landmarks
- Ancient Forests
- Shrines
- Fields
- Countryside
Engage Yourself in Confrontation with Foes
Travel to different areas of the world on your horseback while using a grappling hoot to approach difficult areas. Along the journey, you may encounter various NPCs, who provides you with information in regards to your objective you are willing to complete. You aren’t limited to a sword, as you can use a particular weapon, known as “Tachi”, letting you chain up a set of fatal strikes after targeted enemies. For sure, killing enemies openly would attract the attention of their companions, making you an easy target for them. Alternatively, using the stealth element would help you to kill enemies silently without letting anyone to detect you, so it’s helpful.
Experience Beautiful Scenes from a Third-person Viewpoint
You fell in love with the game when you experience a beautiful world first time. Because it seems you come in a dream world containing relaxing environment and fun-filled gameplay. Avoid being trapped with the environment as it isn’t in actually as it seems. The protagonist uses the third-person viewpoint for the navigation, and use ranged weapons to participate in fatal combat against enemies where he can use combos and other deadly strikes to take on enemies.
Conclusion – 8/10
Undoubtedly, the story of the game makes you emotional, especially in the third and final acts, as they end spectacularly. The familiar open-world design is one of the most prominent features, forcing players to be part of the game. Mechanics and visual effects are fantastic as I’d never experienced before. By adding new abilities rather than upgrades, the sword fights beautifully manage to stay tricky, regarding, and fun to play throughout the story.
