The Witcher 3 is going to celebrate its fifth anniversary this year. Developers have confirmed that the game is getting a graphical upgrade for next-gen hardware, and the owners of the game will get the update for free. CD Projekt Red confirmed the news, saying that the updated game will be released for new gaming consoles like Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Moreover, the upgrade will bring a lot of graphical and technical improvements, including better ray-tracing graphics and better loading times. The upgrade will apply to the base game, revealed by Projekt Red, and its both expansion packs, such as Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Furthermore, the free upgrade to the next-generation version seems pretty exquisite.
It’s not clear if there are other conditions for grabbing the free upgrade beyond purchasing a current copy of TW3 (The Witcher 3). It means, if you haven’t played the game yet, and are willing to grab a next-generation version, then you should purchase one now to get eligible for having the upgrade for free next year. It’s not clear when the upgrade version will be released.
