Apex Legends versus Fortnite: Battle Royale – Who’s the King of Battle Royale?

Saiba Khan

Surprisingly, Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment released their Battle Royale title, Apex Legends recently and the game has almost taken online gaming by a massive storm. Already, the game has successfully clocked over twenty-five million players within just a week but is still less as compared to the most popular title Fortnite which has almost two-hundred registered players.

Apex Legends is growing faster than Fortnite

If we see the phase at which Apex Legends is growing, the time isn’t so far when this game will be the biggest hit. To make things more competitive, the developers have introduced the Season 8 Battle Pass absolutely free, if players from across the world earn it by playing the challenges. Now, the main question arises is that which one of the two games are offering a better gaming experience as both titles are focused on the same concept, and both are following the free-to-play method, as well as offering in-game items to purchase.

There are many things that aren’t similar between the two titles, including third-person versus first-person perspective or the capability to play solo, duo, or team-based in Fortnite: Battle Royale vs. online squad mode in Apex Legends. So, we’ve put together the similarities and dissimilarities between these two video games. Let’s explore them!

First-person Perspective vs. Third-person Perspective

The most notable differences between the two games are their perspective. Both titles have their own perspective such as Fortnite offering third-person while Apex Legends offering the first-person perspective. In Apex Legends, you can engage yourself in first-person shooting experience, while Fortnite enables their users to engage third-person shooting gameplay. In Apex Legends, you can only discover what’s actually in front of you, but in Fortnite you can see the character from distance.

Squad-based Gameplay

Like Fortnite: Battle Royale, Apex Legends doesn’t introduce solo or duo mode. Which also means that players from all over the land can’t play alone. Also, the team in Apex Legends comprises three players, instead of four in Fortnite that also shifts into a team of sixty players, rather than 100. There are several gaming modes in Fornite such as Solo, Duo, and 50 vs 50. However, there are limited time modes in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Characters vs. Fortnite Characters

The notable similarities between the two battle royale titles are the addition of playable characters. Each of them offering their unique skills, weaknesses, and strengths. Therefore, in each game, players require to select their favorite character based on their gameplay. However, Fortnite: Battle Royale calls their playable characters as heroes, while Apex Legends calls their characters as legends.

While playing the game, players have an opportunity to change their characters during the midst of the game in Fortnite, but this option isn’t available in Apex Legends. The player needs to define his playable character in the starting.

Apex Legends versus Fortnite Gameplay

Both video games are focused on the same concept of survival, but Fortnite introduces some extra blend of genres, including Sandbox, Building, and Crafting. Both titles have their unique version of that. Newly released battle royale title, Apex Legends is focused on first-person shooter concept, while Fortnite usually deals with the third-person viewpoint. Both video games provide players with great gameplay, but Fortnite is a bit difficult to play as compared to Apex Legends. Furthermore, the game offers the capability of creating fortification by gathering vital resources from the surrounding environment. In another hand, Apex Legends offer active and fast-paced gameplay.

Another notable difference of these two titles from other battle royale games is that the eliminated team members can get to rejoin the team if any member grabs the fallen within 90 seconds from the exact moment they are murdered.

Loot Items, Weapons, Equipment, and more

Both titles come with a massive variety of weapons, armors, and gears to select from. But in Apex Legends, mostly weapons are borrowed from Titanfall 2 and it also has some kind of science-fiction look and feel. While in other hands, Fornite: Battle Royale has more traditional weaponry in comparison with Apex Legends.

Apex Legends vs Fortnite Platforms – Where you can play these games?

Apex Legends is released for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One. However, the game is yet to venture into the world of mobile devices and Nintendo Switch, which definitely provides the Fortnite with an advantage with dominating those platforms.

Apex Legends versus Fortnite Cosmetics

Apex Legends introduce some fabulous cosmetics, offering through in-game loot boxes. All cosmetics are retrained to the universe of the game, while Fortnite offering more outfits and emotes compared to Apex Legends.

Recently, Fortnite has uncovered several skins heavily inspired by massive sporting events, movies, music videos, and more.
